Bio
Sam is originally from Manitoba, Canada where he graduated from the University of Manitoba with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a concentration in Conservation and Biodiversity. During his undergraduate studies, Sam assisted in several agro-environmental research projects with the Manitoba Department of Agriculture and Resource Development as well as Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). After graduating, he moved to California to become an Agricultural Biologist with the El Dorado County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures where he coordinated the department's invasive weed eradication program. During his practicum at UC Davis, Sam collaborated with Green Schoolyards America to research policy barriers in New Mexico that prevent transforming asphalt-covered school grounds into green, park-like spaces which would enhance children's well-being, learning, and play, while also supporting the ecological health and climate resilience of their communities. After graduating from the EPM program, Sam will be starting in his new position as an Environmental Scientist with the Department of Pesticide Regulation at Cal EPA.
