Accomplishments
- The launching of the EPMDC website. We would like to acknowledge Jessica Penrose for her guidance in this work.
- Creation of the environmental justice specialization
- Former EPMDC co-chair, Antonia Davetas, has created this resource guide for students
- Hosting of a variety of student events including film screenings, podcast discussions and roundtable discussions
- Played a pivotal role in engaging students and alumni in the EPM admissions process
- Hosting of quarterly open forum meetings to update interested parties on accomplishments and future goals
Work in Progress
- EPMDC is finalizing a ENV290 seminar that focuses on reading and discussing environmental justice literature for academic units that can be put towards the EJ specialization
Further Work
- Making connections with local professionals to host as speakers at EPDMC events
- Connecting with faculty on campus to create long-lasting partnerships for EPM students seeking EJ electives
- The EPMDC is working with program leadership to add an EJ course requirement to the rigorous coursework of the EPM program
