The American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC) is a national nonprofit organization fighting to uphold America's promise of freedom for wild horses and burros and the public lands they call home are preserved. Our public awareness and education campaigns, advocacy work, field work, and land conservation and habitat restoration projects aim to protect and conserve these iconic animals as an integral part of the landscape of the West.
POSITION SUMMARY
The American Wild Horse Campaign is seeking an Operations Manager for the Davis, California Office. Reporting to the Operations Director, the Operations Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting AWHC’s internal operations, including supporting the organization in administration, board relations, and finance. This is a full-time non exempt office-based position, located in the AWHC Headquarters. Hours worked are flexible, though general office hours are maintained from 9 p - 5 pm PST. Option to work from home on Tuesday and Thursdays, contingent you are needed in the office.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration:
- Oversee administrative functions at the direction of the Operations Director, ensuring ongoing smooth operations.
- Assist the Executive Director in administrative tasks such as maintaining calendar, managing deadlines and timeframes, etc.
- Manage the general contact inbox and voicemails for the organization.
- Manage IT needs, including both hardware and software, in consultation with the Operations Director.
- Manage the administration of organizational systems, Google Suite, Slack, Adobe, QuickBooks, etc. for the organization.
- Manage the office merchandise inventory, office supplies, and other supplies needed for the organization.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Board Relations:
- Assist Executive Director in supporting Board of Directors’ activities, including meeting preparation.
- Monitor Board’s compliance-related issues (i.e. fiduciary responsibilities, insurance, conflicts of interest), ensuring they meet recognized benchmarks.
- Support board governance and structure-related matters (standing committees, voting requirements, board terms, etc.).
Finance:
- Assist bookkeeper with income and expense classification and approval process.
- Manage employee expense reimbursement process.
- Ensure all regulatory and tax documents are filed and monitor compliance at the direction of the Operations Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2 years of executive or admin assistant experience in a relevant role.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and drive tasks independently, exhibiting a proactive and self-starting approach to responsibilities.
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills. Ability to work well with others in-person and remotely via video conferencing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong knowledge of Google Suite, Slack, QuickBooks, Office.
- Ability to learn new software quickly and effectively,
- Ability to travel periodically.
- Possession of a driver’s license, automobile and appropriate insurance coverage
