Bio
Growing up in Ventura County, Keara has always had a passion for the ocean and mountains that surround her. Keara graduated in high esteem from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science.
During her undergraduate career, Keara interned with a number of nonprofit organizations such as Heal the Bay, an ocean conservation organization, where she was able to build a working knowledge of marine life, run data analyses of organisms found in the tidal zones, and serve as a Naturalist teaching children about the ocean and the dangers of pollution. She also gained experience working with the National Park Service in the Santa Monica Mountains studying fire spread, formation, climatic and anthropogenic factors, as well as advising on a picture methodology to determine wildfire probabilities along roadsides.
Post-college, Keara has been helping to educate the public about the environment with her local Parks Department and has worked with children in a variety of educational capacities, including science instruction.
Keara hopes to use her Masters in Environmental Policy and Management to pursue water and marine resource conservation. She hopes to one day work in coastal management and continue to educate future generations about the importance of keeping our oceans clean.
Keara graduated September 2019. Her first position after graduation has been with Ecoconsult as a Policy Analyst.
