The Climate Advocacy Lab seeks a full-time Climate & Health Manager to lead our training, convening, and research work at the intersection of health, equity, and climate action over the next two years, Fall 2024 - Fall 2026.
The Climate & Health Manager will:
- Build and support the Lab’s national community of practitioners working at the intersection of climate and health
- Synthesize new climate and health research/resources to update the training curriculum
- Plan and facilitate quarterly in-person strategic advocacy/communications workshops
- Design and deliver quarterly virtual trainings for the Lab’s climate and health community
- Offer 1-on-1 coaching and consults for climate and health leaders
- Ensure integration of relevant insights into the Lab’s overall programming
- Oversee measurement, learning, and evaluation the for Lab’s climate and health work

ABOUT THE CLIMATE ADVOCACY LAB
As a movement support organization, the Climate Advocacy Lab (the Lab) equips the US climate movement with the evidence-based insights, skills, and connections needed to build durable power and win equitable solutions – including at the intersection of climate and health. For 9+ years, the Lab has made a training program, in-house research expertise, and an extensive resource library free and accessible to 4,000+ climate community members from more than 1500 organizations and institutions, across all 50 U.S. states, D.C., and Puerto Rico. The Lab is fiscally-sponsored at the Partnership Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and a coalition of environmental organizations focused on supporting the collaborative efforts of the environmental community. Partnership Project’s programs focus on critical environmental issues including climate change, emissions reduction, and environmental and climate justice.
POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Climate + Health Manager will report to the Lab’s Training Director. Day-to-day tasks may vary, but overall responsibilities include:
Program Management
- Drive overall vision and strategy for the Lab’s climate and health work
- Update the Lab’s existing synthesis of communications research (both academic and from the field) at the intersection of climate and health, and identify knowledge gaps
- Build on existing materials to design and develop a hybrid climate/health strategic communications and advocacy training curriculum that incorporates both an in-person workshop, ongoing virtual training opportunities (live and self-paced), and 1-on-1 coaching and technical consultations
- Strengthen Lab relationships with other advocacy, communications, and movement support organizations working at the climate/health intersection
In-person Workshop and Virtual Training Delivery
- Recruit a diverse cohort of participants for regional workshops (in-person) and webinar trainings (virtual)
- Plan and facilitate quarterly in-person regional strategic communications and advocacy workshop a quarter (8 workshops total)
- Deliver quarterly webinar trainings (8 webinars total) exploring key topics
1-on-1 Coaching
- Provide support for cohort participants through 1-on-1 coaching, consults, post-training check-ins, and on-going strategy support
Measurement, Learning, Evaluation, & Sharing
- Design and field pre- and post-training surveys to collect valuable feedback and information on the impact of cohort participation
- Monitor progress toward existing program grant deliverables
- Help draft related grant proposals and reports, including case studies and impact stories
- Draft newsletter content and/facilitate webinars to share resources and learning with the larger Lab community
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience working on climate organizing and/or campaigning at the intersection of climate and health, with a demonstrated understanding of the skills, resources, and tools that support advocacy successful efforts
- 3+ years of experience as a “front-of-room” trainer, training folks across a diversity of skill levels, perspectives, lived experiences, and learning styles.
- Experience planning and delivering in-person trainings is a plus
- Experience planning and delivering virtual trainings is a plus
- Experience working in strategic communications and/or narrative strategy.
- Experience planning a curriculum and developing training materials focused on advocacy and organizing for participants with varied backgrounds
- Experience evaluating the impact of training or other capacity-building activities is a plus
- Enthusiasm for the Lab’s evidence-based approach to climate advocacy work
- Share the Lab’s commitment to justice and equity across all aspects of our work and vision for building a powerful multiracial, cross-class climate movement
- Time management skills and the ability to thrive working remotely in a fast-evolving, collaborative environment
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly, up to once a month

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION
CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Full-Time, Exempt position. This position is grant-funded and currently is planned to run for 24 months from September 1, 2024 - September 1, 2026.
LOCATION: Remote within the U.S. The Lab has been a remotely-distributed team since 2019, with staff currently located in MA, MD, VA, NC, TX, CO, NM, and CA.
This position will require regular travel (on average, one 2-3 day trip per month) and the ideal candidate will be able to access a major airport.
COMPENSATION: The salary for this position is $95,000.
