Job Description
The California Seaweed Festival (CSF) is seeking a Science Education Intern to support the
impact and outreach of the 2025 Festival. This internship will focus on creating outreach and
educational materials for the festival and will provide a unique opportunity to grow
professionally while contributing to public understanding of science. Join us in making the 2025
California Seaweed Festival an impactful celebration of urban ocean ecosystems!
Key Responsibilities:
●Create education material to support activities at the Festival and promote the Festival's
mission, possibly including: including digital and print content such as Seaweed of the
Week posts and Photo Guides to local seaweeds, home activity kits and merchandise.
●Support festival planning efforts by maintaining excellent communication and
organizational practices.
●Attend and actively contribute to the 2025 California Seaweed Festival.
Desired Qualifications:
●Enthusiasm for seaweeds, coastal ecosystems, and science communication.
●Strong written and verbal communication skills.
●Ability to work collaboratively and remotely with a diverse team.
●Skills in graphic design and/or video production.

Position: Part-Time, Hybrid, Greater Los Angeles region
Duration: 100 hours or 5 hrs/week for July - December 2025
Compensation: Stipend of $1000 & participation in California Seaweed Festival events

with media outlets in the greater Los Angeles region. It is a unique opportunity to grow
professionally while building connections with a large and diverse community. Join us in making
the 2025 California Seaweed Festival an impactful celebration of urban ocean ecosystems!
Key Responsibilities:
●Develop and document a comprehensive list of Los Angeles area media outlets.
●Develop a strategy for disseminating festival information.
●Work with the festival team to create and send content.
●Attend and actively contribute to the 2025 California Seaweed Festival.
Desired Qualifications:
●Enthusiasm for seaweeds, coastal ecosystems, and community engagement.
●Strong written and verbal communication skills.
●Ability to work collaboratively and remotely with a diverse team.

●Identify and contact new, potential local community partners and organizations in and
around Los Angeles that intersect with the California Seaweed Festival. Share festival
information, including flyers, to build relationships with the community.
●Assist with pre-festival activities including tabling and local pop-up activations.
●Attend and actively contribute to the 2025 California Seaweed Festival.
