Assistant Research Scientist in Coastal Habitat Restoration The Coastal Conservation and Restoration Ecology Lab at the Harte Research Institute, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, led by Dr. Jennifer Pollack, is looking to hire a motivated and independent Assistant Research Scientist to work on a suite of habitat restoration-focused projects. The Assistant Research Scientist will join an active, collaborative lab focused on conservation, restoration, and sustainable resource management. This position will evaluate the use of hatchery-reared oysters to enhance coastal habitats and will involve close collaboration with a genetics-focused lab led by Dr. Chris Hollenbeck. The successful candidate will integrate ecological performance and genetic data to better understand oyster origin, survival, and recruitment patterns in restoration settings. Responsibilities - Develop and implement project plans and schedules - Contribute to experimental design and study development - Leads field work, including oyster and faunal monitoring and collection - Analyze datasets, including collected and external data - Coordinate with genetics co-PI and team to align sampling, data integration, and interpretation - Give presentations, write, and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals - Support mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students - Interact directly with funders and project partners Education and Experience - Ph.D. in marine ecology, biology, restoration ecology, or related field - Experience with project management - Proficiency in field assessments, data collection, statistical analysis, and report writing - Experience leading manuscripts and demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed journals - Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required. - SCUBA certification highly preferred. The position is available for up to two years, pending suitable progress during the first year. Starting salary range is $55,000-$60,000, commensurate.
