This year's EProM!

A few weeks ago, the Environmental Policy & Management social committee hosted our annual EProM! This was an end-of-the-year celebratory event for our current students, faculty and staff, as well as recent alumni who missed out on an EProM celebration of their own. EProM is an opportunity to celebrate the students' accomplishments and socialize with the program while supporting a good cause! We celebrated with delicious snacks, a food truck, and outdoor games. The theme was Strawberry Field Forever, inspired by the nonprofit, Three Sisters Gardens. This year's event raised over $800 to donate to the local Three Sisters Gardens in West Sacramento through ticket sales and a raffle at EProM. 

Three Sisters Gardens is a nonprofit organization bringing community members together to grow food and lives; founded and operated by Farmer Alfred Melbourne (long-time resident of West Sacramento). The Three Sisters Gardens’ main goal is to give back to the community by inspiring and empowering youth through gardening. Like the Three Sisters legend of companionship planting, Three Sisters Gardens believes that our communities can begin to heal and thrive when all components, the youth, adults, and elders are working together as one.

The raffle table consisted of an Outdoor Adventures gift card, a three month coffee subscription from Pachamama, Berry&Thyme botanical jam, Capital Cat Cafe merchandise, handmade earrings by the EPM Associate Director Jessica Penrose, and our own EPM merchandise! Thank you to those that sponsored our raffle table and helped us gather donations for Three Sisters Gardens. 

The EPM social committee co-chairs Jess DellaRossa and Daniela Arce, and members Cheryl Winfield, Thomas Miller, Jeff Palm, and Yalin Lee have been preparing for EProM since October of 2021. The social committee planned all aspects of the event, including working with JackRabbit Brewing to secure a venue, decorating, providing snacks and dessert, and coordinating ticket sales and raffle items. They have been working hard to plan this event as well as other social events for all of EPM to enjoy. A special thank you to this year's social committee, for making this event such a memorable experience!
