Bio

Ron Unger is a recently retired (2020) restoration ecologist, conservation planner, and community volunteer. Ron has a bachelors degree in psychology from SUNY Potsdam and a masters degree in ecology from UC Davis. Ron recently (2020) retired from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) as Manager of the Landscape Conservation Planning Program. Ron also worked with the California Department of Water Resources, The Nature Conservancy National Stewardship Team, regional and international environmental consulting firms, and in a variety of other jobs from laborer to business owner and vocational teacher. He is currently volunteering extensively in the community, forming a refugee support team, having fun traveling, hiking, and writing a children’s book, and developing a land-use planning game. He has guided and served many persons in discovering and achieving their career objectives, including navigating the process for getting a California state job.
