Bio
Katy is a graduate of Columbia University, where she earned her BA in English. She weeded her way to a Certificate of Ecological Horticulture from UC Santa Cruz, after which she started her own farm in Esparto, CA, while also working at the local food hub. After moving with her family to the Bay Area, Katy's interests pivoted toward climate in the urban context. She has since worked in school gardens and public education. Katy is a recent graduate of the UC Climate Stewards program taught by the Sacramento Tree Foundation. She serves on the Climate Action Committee for the City of Albany, advising on local climate policies. Here at EPM, she plans to get into the weeds of state policy, to better understand how to develop programs that empower local communities to act on climate.
