Bio

My name is Julia Estrada and I am from Southern California. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Anthropology and Geography focusing in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. After graduating, I interned with the CALFire San Luis Obispo GIS division focusing on fire protection and prevention. In 2016 I accepted a position as a Community Environmental Conservation volunteer with Peace Corps Panama. During my two years of service I worked with a rural community on various environmental projects including reforestation, eco-stoves, organic home gardening, recycling and trash management. After returning to the United States, I began a position as Recycling Coordinator for the Orange County region. As a Recycling Coordinator I worked with local jurisdictions and the community, implementing California's state recycling mandates to reduce short-lived climate pollutants and divert recyclable materials from the landfill. While pursuing my master's in Environmental Policy and Management, I furthered my knowledge in environmental law and policy, focusing in environmental justice and climate change science and policy.
