Judith Nasambu Wanjallah

Judith Nasambu Wanjallah is an Environmental governance and climate change professional with over nine years of experience advancing environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and community-centered development across government, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Maseno University, Kenya. In addition, she is trained and certified as an ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Lead Auditor and Environmental Inspector. She also has professional training in project monitoring and evaluation, climate policy, planning and budgeting, supervisory leadership, and environmental enforcement. Throughout her career, Judith has served in leadership and technical roles in one of the Counties in Kenya, most recently as Assistant Director for Environment and Climate Change. She has also contributed to environmental and climate initiatives through organizations including the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) and the Kenya Red Cross Society. She has successfully led and contributed to the development of environmental and climate change policies, legislation, action plans, and governance frameworks to strengthen environmental management and climate resilience. She has played a key role in establishing and coordinating climate change working groups, technical committees, and multi-stakeholder platforms that foster collaboration among government agencies, development partners, communities, and the private sector. Her work has also focused on designing and implementing projects and programs that enhance environmental stewardship, improve climate adaptation capacity, promote sustainable resource management, and support locally led climate action. She joined the EPM Program to strengthen her knowledge and skills in global environmental policy and governance. During the Program, she had the opportunity to work with the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), where she contributed to the review and evaluation of the edible food recovery program under SB 1383. She also served as an Environmental Policy Fellow with the Alliance for Citizen Engagement (ACE), where she researched and authored four policy briefs on pressing environmental and climate policy issues. As part of the EPM Policy Clinic, Judith is working with Farallon Strategies on a project examining the evolution and resilience of climate collaboratives across the United States.
