For over 15 years, Adams has channeled her artistry into digital storytelling, with a focus on building stronger communities for everyday Americans. That work has spanned climate and environmental justice, civil and human rights, immigration and criminal justice, and democracy, encompassing two U.S. presidential campaigns (one win, one loss). And tenures at the NAACP, MoveOn.org, NextGen America, the Sierra Club, and the Democratic National Committee - and most recently, Al Gore’s climate education organization, The Climate Reality Project. Adams was an inaugural fellow at the Center for American Progress’ 2050 Leadership Institute and served abroad as a cultural ambassador in Eastern Europe for the U.S. Department of State, under former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, where she taught young Muslims digital storytelling.
Adams serves on the boards of the Rumi Forum (an interfaith nonprofit based in D.C.) and volunteers in her community on the Solano County Land Trust and the Vallejo, CA, City Design Commission. She has served as an advisor to the UC Davis Graduate Environmental Program and as an inaugural fellow at the World Forestry Center. Additionally, she was nominated and served as a federal commissioner for the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House in Washington, D.C., and for President Joe Biden’s Federal Wildland Fire Commission.
In her free time, Jamiah enjoys spending time with her extended family and hiking the beautiful paths of South Vallejo. She is a certified Doubledutch Aerobics instructor who loves double-dutching with local Bay Area groups.
