Bio
Gerald D.S. Quoie, Jr. is a dedicated environmental engineer originally from Liberia, West Africa. He holds a Master of Science (MS) in Environmental Science from Tongji University, Shanghai, China, where his research focused on electrochemical processes for wastewater treatment, particularly nitrate pollution. Gerald also earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Environmental Engineering from Tianjin University Tianjin, China, where he specialized in wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) for public health monitoring. He also obtained a Certificate in Writing Tools for Research Publication Success from Imperial College London, United Kingdom. With professional experience in wastewater treatment and electrocatalysis, Gerald has published more than ten peer-reviewed papers and interned at Shanghai Sustainable Environment Company, Ltd (SUS Environment), where he gained hands-on experience in innovative waste-to-energy technologies. He is also the author of a book chapter titled “Advances in Catalysts for Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction: An Overview of a Sustainable Approach to Mitigating Pollution” published in the international volume Geography, Earth Science and Environment: Research Highlights Vol. 5. Gerald is currently pursuing a second master’s degree at the University of California, Davis to further his knowledge of environmental policy and management. Motivated by the pressing environmental challenges facing Liberia and the world at large, he aims to utilize UC Davis’ strong industry partnerships and advanced research facilities to build expertise in environmental management, resource economics, and environmental justice. Gerald aims to use the knowledge and skills he has gained from the Environmental Policy and Management (EPM) program to promote sustainable development and implement effective environmental reforms throughout his career.
