Bio
After graduating from Ashoka University in 2023 with an advanced major in philosophy and an advanced minor in environmental studies, Dewansh (he/him) moved back to Bangalore, his hometown, to work with Environment Support Group (ESG), a legal, environmental advocacy non-profit. As a research intern, he assisted ESG with their case against transgenic brinjal. He later joined Edible Issues, a small food-systems collective, as a research and community engagement intern and worked on climate resilience and food and nutritional security through projects like Roots to Resilience, which explored the social significance and climate resilience of indigenous tuber crops. While at UC Davis, Dewansh aims to specialize in environmental justice and sustainable food systems to help build resilient, just (for human and non-human beings), and equitable food systems. His research interests include food deserts, food and nutritional security, community ownership, and agroecological transformations.
