Bio
Christian Fuentes is a graduate student with a background in biological sciences and environmental stewardship. Originally from California’s Central Valley, he earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from California State University, Stanislaus, in 2020. His professional experience spans environmental consulting, natural resource work, chemical and microbiological analysis, and public service through positions with the Camp Fire Hazard Tree Removal Program, quality assurance food laboratories, and California State Parks. While working on the Camp Fire Hazard Tree Removal Program in Paradise, California, Christian gained experience in environmental impact assessment, biological monitoring, and stakeholder engagement during recovery efforts following one of the state’s most devastating wildfires. Witnessing firsthand the environmental and social consequences of climate-related disasters strengthened his commitment to advancing policies that promote environmental resilience and community well-being. Through his graduate studies, Christian seeks to further develop his expertise in environmental policy and public administration. He aspires to build a career in the public sector, where he can contribute to the development of equitable, science-based policies that protect California’s natural resources and support communities facing environmental challenges.
