Bio

Carolyn graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in Public Health Sciences and minor in Sustainability Studies in 2022. She is interested in pretty much any issue relating to community health, politics, and environmental justice, and has enjoyed taking a variety of elective classes in subjects ranging from Puerto Rican history to extension education programs.

In her time at UC Davis, she has worked as a teaching assistant for courses on community development and sustainable agriculture. Additionally, she has spent time working as a press intern for the California State Assembly, a communications intern for the Public Policy Institute of California, and a GIS intern for the California Geologic Energy Management Division.

After writing a policy brief about food fortification for an EPM course, she successfully lobbied a state legislator to introduce the idea as a bill in the current legislative session, AB1830. She was also excited to captain a team of other EPM students to submit a group entry to the Department of Energy Geothermal Collegiate competition in fall 2023.

In her free time, Carolyn can be found experimenting with new recipes, playing music or video games, quilting, and hanging out with her foster dogs.
