Bio
Amanda Specht is currently a 2026 California Sea Grant State Fellow working with the California Fish and Game Commission. With the Commission, she supports statewide initiatives in the adaptive management of California’s Marine Protected Area Network and the Commission's coastal fishing communities project. Amanda is an alumni of the UC Davis Environmental Policy and Management graduate program, completing her Master's degree in 2025 with a specialization in Marine Resource Management. She also earned her B.S. in Biology with honors from the University of Puget Sound in 2017. Her professional background spans from a couple years of federal experience—including drafting Endangered Species Act recovery permits at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service— to several years as zookeeper in both Georgia and California.
