The Forest Social Scientist will support the United States Forest Service’s Mature and Old Growth (MOG) forest efforts over the next three years. The position will be embedded at a Forest Service office in the United States (location flexible). We are looking for a social scientist with a background in one or more of the following: human dimensions of natural resource management; ecosystem services; policy and planning; environmental justice; decision science; social values mapping. We recognize that any individual candidate may not possess subject matter expertise in all areas; being strong in one area is sufficient for consideration. The social scientist’s work will include quantitative research related to public and stakeholder values, community characteristics ad demographics, ecosystem services (including provisioning and cultural services), and forest management. Analyses will be conducted at the regional to national level, with a focus on the National Forest System.
