Job Description

The Climate Advocacy Lab seeks a Program Manager to lead our cross-programmatic work ensuring equitable implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and other large federal investment opportunities (IIJA and CHIPS Act) – including our new Digital & Insights Hub

The ideal IRA Program Manager has: 

  • Familiarity with the policy provisions and opportunities of the IRA and other federal investments and initiatives (i.e. IIJA, CHIPS Act, Justice 40)
  • A breadth and depth of relationships with leaders across the climate movement
  • Experience managing interdisciplinary, cross-programmatic projects
  • Experience facilitating and/or training in virtual spaces

 


 

ABOUT THE CLIMATE ADVOCACY LAB

As a movement support organization, the Climate Advocacy Lab (the Lab) equips the US climate movement with the evidence-based insights, skills, and connections needed to build durable power and win equitable solutions. For 9+ years, the Lab has made a training program, in-house research expertise, and an extensive resource library free and accessible to 4,000+ climate community members from more than 1500 organizations and institutions, across all 50 U.S. states, D.C., and Puerto Rico. The Lab is fiscally-sponsored at the Partnership Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and a coalition of environmental organizations focused on supporting the collaborative efforts of the environmental community. Partnership Project’s programs focus on critical environmental issues including climate change, emissions reduction, and environmental and climate justice.

 

 


 

POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The IRA Program Manager will report to one of the Lab’s Co-Directors. Day-to-day tasks may vary, but overall responsibilities include: 

Data & Insights Hub management:

  • Drive overall vision and strategy for the Data & Insights Hub
  • Manage relationships with the Lab’s technical partner (89up) and web development team (Ben Freda Consulting) to maintain and regularly update the Hub landing page
    • Some web development experience and familiarity with Drupal, HTML and CSS is a plus
  • Work with the Lab’s Research team to translate aggregated data from social media (paid ads and organic content) into actionable insights for advocates 
    • Some experience with data analytics platforms such as Big Query and Looker Studio is a plus
  • Work with 89up and Lab’s research team to synthesize research products (polling, canvassing, case studies) contributed by participating partner organizations

     

Program delivery

  • Draft and distribute monthly newsletters summarizing insights and learnings from IRA campaign, organizing, and communications work
  • Work with Lab’s Research and Training teams to facilitate quarterly IRA programming, based on feedback from Lab members
  • Work with the Lab’s Research team to identify and support field research projects to answer key questions related to the IRA facing climate justice organizers

     

Program management

  • Manage IRA Hub budget
  • Lead overall learning and evaluation efforts for the Lab’s IRA-related work
  • Monitor progress toward existing program grant deliverables
  • Help draft related grant proposals and reports
  • Help identify and recruit additional contributing organizations

     

 


 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+  years of experience working in the climate movement
  • Familiarity with the policy provisions and opportunities of the IRA and other federal investments and initiatives (i.e. IIJA, CHIPS Act, Justice 40)
  • Sharp political analysis of climate movement dynamics including around key  organizational players involved in IRA implementation (i.e. advocacy strategy, policy solutions, grassroots organizing tactics, narrative/communications, etc.)
  • Experience facilitating and/or training in virtual spaces
  • Experience managing interdisciplinary, cross-programmatic projects
    • Some web development experience and familiarity with Drupal, HTML and CSS is a plus
    • Some experience with data analytics platforms such as Big Query and Looker Studio is a plus
  • Commitment to justice and equity across all aspects of our work and vision for  building an anti-racist organization and climate movement 
  • Time management skills, including the ability to thrive working in an evolving, collaborative environment
  • Share the Lab’s commitment to justice and equity across all aspects of our work and vision for building a powerful multiracial, cross-class climate movement
  • Ability and willingness to travel 1-2 times per month
