Job Description
NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management is committed to providing equitable access to their products and services, and to working with communities, including tribal and undeserved, to help them meet their coastal resilience goals. The person in this position will expand partnerships and closely work with partners and organizations to improve our services to marginalized, underserved, and underrepresented communities. Duties include the following:
- Serve as a policy consultant and advisor to effectively implement federal law and policies related to partnerships with, and equitable service delivery to, tribal and underserved communities. Maintain awareness of policy changes and advise leadership of impacts to stakeholders and partners.
- Serve as an expert on diversity, equity, inclusion, environmental justice, and accessibility; identify priority needs; and provide guidance to senior officials and managers concerning incorporation of these needs and policies in office processes, investments, programs, and service delivery. Will also lead strategic planning and implementation for these policies, and act as an advisor and provide informal training and best practices for staff.
- Collaborate and build partnerships within NOAA and beyond to advance meaningful engagement and partnership with rural and underserved communities in the design and development of projects and investments that involve tribes, tribal organizations, and under-represented communities.
