Sean Marks' interest in environmental science began with an internship through NOAA's southeast fisheries science center in his hometown of Miami FL. He went on to obtain his undergraduate degree in marine biology at UC Santa Barbara and subsequently obtained a graduate certificate in fisheries management through Oregon State University. During this time he interned with the Santa Barbara Coastal Long Term Ecological Research Lab, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and was employed as an aquaculturist with the Monterey Abalone Company. During his time at UC Davis, he has branched out into the field of water resources, working with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board Title 27 Unit and volunteering at the California Department of Water Resources, assisting with their Delta Conveyance Project. In addition to water resources, his interests include conservation, fisheries, climate change, and aquaculture. After graduation he intends to either continue working with state agencies or enter the private sector as an environmental consultant.
