Job Description

The Climate Community Education Coordinator (CCEC) supports climate change and climate resilience education and outreach efforts in Ventura County and the surrounding region. In addition to California Naturalist, this may include youth and community education & outreach programs and fire resilience efforts in the county. The CCEC provides backbone support to local partner organizations delivering California Naturalist and Climate Stewards courses and advances the larger strategic objectives of the California Naturalist Program. This work typically includes several responsibilities: 1) build new partnerships with local organizations; 2) conduct instructor training workshops; 3) support course co-design, content development, and delivery; 4) administer, monitor and evaluate partner course implementation and overall program implementation; 5) foster a community of practice through networking, communications (including social media), and convenings; and 6) implement special projects (e.g., grants and contracts) that advance the program's strategic objectives.

The CCEC will also work with academics and local education specialists (4-H, Climate-Smart agriculture, Master Gardener) and volunteers to develop a robust outreach program on climate change, resilience and mitigation to stakeholders and the public (youth and adults) in Ventura County. The CCEC works under the general supervision of the Ventura County Director with guidance from the California Naturalist Program Director and the Climate Stewards Academic Coordinator to ensure that new partnerships and courses advance the goals of the California Naturalist program. In addition to serving external local partner organizations, the CCEC works to build relationships within UC ANR to increase opportunities for collaboration and coordination, which may involve supporting ANR Units that engage in direct delivery of California Naturalist Program courses.

This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.

Pay Scale: $21.07/hour to $28.02/hour

This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
