About Northern Recycling, LLC

Northern Recycling provides construction and demolition processing and recycles green material, food waste, wood waste, and agricultural waste to create compost, mulch, and biomass fuel. Northern Recycling, LLC was founded in 2008 by four families, whom together, have over 320 years of experience in the waste industry. Our families have roots in waste management, dating back to the early 1900s when garbage collection services were provided by horse-drawn cart and salvageable food scraps were used to feed pigs and chickens. Northern Recycling began its operations in Zamora, California with just four employees, and in four short years was processing just shy of 100,000 tons per year. In 2022, Northern Recycling opened a brand new, state-of-the-art covered aerated static pile (CASP) composting facility, expanding the region’s composting capacity by over 100,000 tons per year. Northern Recycling has grown to 30+ employees and now manages close to 200,000 tons of organic material per year, accepting material from Yolo County, the City of Fairfield, Napa County, Sacramento City and County, the City of Folsom, the City of El Dorado Hills, Cal Waste, and Paradise County. We are proud to transition from traditional windrow composting to a highly advanced CASP system where we can compost more efficiently, reduce air emissions, and create high quality compost for the community.
