BCDC is looking for a Climate Adaptation Planner to join the Adaptation Planning Unit. This role will help advance the agency’s Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (RSAP) through supporting local governments, communities, and stakeholders in understanding and applying adaptation planning topics, concepts, and policies in practice. The RSAP is an award-winning, first-of-its-kind plan that contains Guidelines for how local governments along the Bay shoreline must plan and prepare for sea level rise and coastal flood impacts. You will take an active and lead role to research complex adaptation topics, develop resources and tools to advance emerging adaptation challenges, and coordinate with state, regional, federal agencies and partners. You will also play a large role in shaping the development of Subregional Plans and provide recommendations on plan and policy alignment with the RSAP Guidelines. This is a highly collaborative position, both internally and externally. It includes strong research and analysis emphasis, along with outreach and engagement with diverse stakeholders to incorporate knowledge and expertise into planning, policy, and technical resources.
