The reporting location for this position is the Morro Bay field office. This position will work under the general supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor).
The Environmental Scientist assists in a variety of responsible professional scientific office and field work. The Environmental Scientist independently performs assigned environmental and natural resource management analysis, research, surveys, and studies; writes final reports; prepares regulatory and compliance documents; enforces environmental law and regulations; prepares non-routine correspondence and answer non-routine questionsfrom the public. The Environmental Scientist performs a variety of tasks including the more responsible, varied, and complex assignments. The Environmental Scientist will be able to work independently and will be assigned lead responsibilities for State and/or federally listed species. Tasks will further Natural Resources Division projects and programs as identified by the Senior Environmental Specialist.
