Job Description

The Inland Deserts Habitat Conservation Program is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) to work throughout Region 6 as part of a statewide team advancing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Cutting the Green Tape (CGT) initiative. This program is designed to accelerate the pace and scale of environmental restoration by streamlining project development, improving permitting pathways, and managing select restoration grants. In this role, you will collaborate directly with restoration practitioners to design and permit projects that restore habitat form and function in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, supporting the recovery of declining species and enhancing ecological resilience. From desert springs to mountain meadows, your work will help conserve the Inland Deserts’ unique fish, wildlife, and native plants.
