SUMMARY
The PAC Manager is responsible for the administration of California Farm Bureau’s federal and state political action committees and collaborates with the staff and board leadership, and internal staff to ensure effective, compliant, and mission‑aligned operations. This position leads and develops PAC fundraising efforts across California and coordinates political engagement activities that support California Farm Bureau’s policy and advocacy objectives.
The PAC Manager maintains a working knowledge of California’s political environment, with particular attention to issues affecting agriculture and rural communities. PAC donor data management and campaign finance reporting are supported by internal staff and external legal counsel; the PAC Coordinator is responsible for coordination, oversight, timeliness and accuracy of PAC‑related information and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Manages and directs the development and implementation of PAC fundraising strategies in alignment with California Farm Bureau policy priorities and advocacy objectives.
- Leads PAC fundraising initiatives, including member outreach, direct mail campaigns, digital fundraising, donor meetings, and FarmPAC events
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with Farm Bureau members, leaders, and other potential PAC donors.
- Oversees PAC fundraising activities and timelines while ensuring alignment with governance policies and legal requirements.
- Works with county Farm Bureaus and internal staff to promote PAC participation and educate members on the role of PAC fundraising in advancing Farm Bureau priorities.
- Tracks fundraising performance and prepares summary reports for leadership and PAC committees, as appropriate.
Political & Policy Engagement
- Maintains a working knowledge of California’s legislative, regulatory, and electoral environment, with emphasis on issues affecting agriculture and rural communities.
- Responsible for the gathering and analysis of information related to candidates, ballot measures, and political activity relevant to Farm Bureau policy priorities.
- Collaborates with public affairs and member engagement teams to disseminate information and activate members around political engagement.
- Monitors elections, legislative activity, and regulatory developments to inform PAC engagement efforts.
- Prepares political background materials, research. analyses, and summaries for PAC committees and leadership consideration.
- Collaborates with policy and advocacy staff to ensure PAC engagement activities are informed by current Farm Bureau policy positions.
