Sarah received a BS in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont and a GIS Graduate Certificate from the University of Denver. She joined the Environmental Policy and Management Program after being a part of the Lake Tahoe local community for the past 7+ years. Sarah’s practicum project was with Sierra Business Council. She was involved in the planning committee to help organize an advocacy in the Capitol and trained event participants to protect Sierra interest and lobby for nature-based solutions, wildfire resilience, and a climate bond. She also helped Sierra Business Council conduct workshops for the California Air Resources Board to learn why one-size-fits-all decarbonization policies and incentives are lagging in California’s rural areas. Sarah did her Policy Clinic with the California Ocean Science Trust, analyzing the overlap between blue carbon ecosystems and frontline communities. She also hopes to continue working in the confluence of both spatial science and policy to elevate nature-based solutions.
