Student must commit to working a minimum of 14 hours a week. They also must be enrolled and attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Winter, and Spring) at any accredited college in a technical field, preferably in one of following fields: biological, chemical, physical or environmental science, soil science, water science, hydrology, agronomy, natural resource science, environmental or public health, physical geography, or a closely related scientific discipline.
Must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA with a minimum enrollment of:
- Undergraduate students: six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units
- Graduate students: four (4) semester units or six (6) quarter units

Position Description
Assist with database maintenance, e-mails, and hard copy correspondence. Work with other CalRecycle team members regarding basic statutory and regulatory requirements of SB 1383 and related solid waste and recycling programs in the Jurisdiction and Agency Compliance and Enforcement (JACE) Branch. Identify complex issues to escalate to Office Technicians, Environmental Scientists, Sr. Environmental Scientists, and Program Managers.
Essential Functions
30% - Assist with maintaining JACE databases, including updating contact information, correcting typographical errors, editing for consistent formatting, and making other updates as needed.
30% - Perform internet searches to find entity information to enter into a list.
15% - Assist with outgoing letters and other communications. Enter communications with external stakeholders into a log.
15% - Assist Sr. Environmental Scientists with administrative tasks related to implementing new enforcement processes.
5% - Help ensure documents meet accessibility standards in Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF.
5% - Other job-related duties, as assigned.
