CCLT’s purpose is to conserve California’s extraordinary land and water resources through a strong network of land trusts with one cohesive voice across urban and rural communities. CCLT’s program portfolio is organized into three categories: policy and advocacy, education and convening, and funding and capacity building. CCLT is dedicated to building programs that are responsive to the needs of the land trust community, and relevant to the current challenges and opportunities facing land and resource conservation. CCLT has secured nearly $7 million of funding predominantly from state agencies in the last 2 years and is currently overseeing nearly 40 grantees and a suite of contractors. Led by an Executive Director and a dedicated Board of Directors, CCLT is committed to building the capacity of all land trusts throughout the State.

Position Overview

The Grants Program Manager will oversee the management, implementation, and administration of state-funded grant programs supporting natural resource management and land conservation. This fully remote position requires a California-based individual with at least five years of experience managing state grant programs, strong knowledge of natural resource issues and land conservation, and the ability to build relationships with government agencies, land trust partners, contractors and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Program Management:
    • Administer state-funded grant programs, ensuring compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and manage grant application processes, timelines, and reporting protocols.
    • Monitor budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting related to grant programs.
    • Prepare frequent updates for the Executive Director, Board, and other partners as needed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as a primary point of contact with state agencies, grantees, and contractors for all matters relating to the grants.
    • Build and maintain partnerships to advance program goals and leverage resources.
    • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations with partners and stakeholders.
  • Program Development & Implementation:
    • Support the development of new program opportunities and funding proposals.
    • Evaluate program outcomes and prepare reports for funders, CCLT leadership, and the Board.
  • Organizational Support:
    • Contribute to strategic planning and organizational development related to CCLT programs.
    • Supervise consultants or contractors as needed.
    • Represent the organization at conferences, public meetings, and professional forums.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing state grant programs in California.
  • Understanding of the state’s key natural resources goals including 30×30 and the Natural and Working Lands Climate Smart Strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience in natural resources issues; background in land conservation strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public presentation and report writing.
  • Experience with Microsoft products and other project management and finance software.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating with a diverse team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental policy, public administration, or a related field, OR, other significant professional experience in grants management.
  • Ability to travel within California.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $100-$125k
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and retirement contributions.
  • Flexible, fully remote work environment within California with frequent travel within the State.
