Bio
Emeline earned her bachelor’s degree in both Environmental Studies and Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Between undergraduate and graduate school she worked on a research team within the NASA DEVELOP National Program at Ames Research Center to conduct a feasibility study on the applications of remote sensing technology for informing municipal urban forestry decision making, with the goal of mitigating the urban heat island effect in San Jose, California. Emeline is interested in continuing to study how remote sensing tools can be applied to environmental and social justice concerns, such as natural disasters. She is passionate about connecting communities impacted by environmental injustices with scientific research and policy tools in order to center community agency in finding solutions to environmental problems.
