Under the direction of the Director of Military Affairs, the Installations Readiness Defense Community Liaison facilitates coordination and consultation with defense civilian communities and military installations partners statewide regarding issues that are of significant interest to the State of California and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). This role focuses on analyzing and supporting defense communities' coordination needs, enhancing intergovernmental collaboration, and addressing issues related to military readiness, infrastructure, and policy development. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, stakeholder liaising and collaboration, grant and project management, and the preparation of reports and recommendations based on collected data.
This is an analyst classification characterized by the responsibility for performing analytical and administrative supportive tasks, carrying out responsibilities utilizing independent decision-making and judgement. The incumbent is expected to possess an understanding of technical and political processes, including federal grants management, military affairs, cybersecurity, military installation readiness, defense industrial base and national security policy. The incumbent should have expertise in interagency coordination, data analysis, grant administration, policy development, and effective communication skills to facilitate cooperation with military, government, and private sector stakeholders. The incumbent must be able to reason logically, use a variety of decision makers and stakeholder groups.
