Hannah Chickering at Sacramento Department of Utilities
Hannah works closely with the team's program coordinator and sustainability analyst to perform critical analysis of water loss components, water violations, water justice programs, the department's GHG emissions and data of all sorts. The program she is most excited to be a part of currently is the department's new Leak Repair Assistance program. The team has received a grant in order to alleviate the costs of leak repairs amongst Sacramento residents with long standing leaks; some up to 500 or more gallons of water per hour! This program aids homeowners who may not have the funds to fix their costly leaks and ensures they will not have to continue to pay high water bills. While this program is one on a long list, and one of the less technical programs, it shows why Hannah is so proud to be a part of the Water Conservation and Sustainability team, inching towards water equity for the city of Sacramento.
Another highlight of Hannah’s time with the Department of Utilities Water Conservation team is her exposure to field work - working directly with the office's water representatives. Hannah occasionally gets to accompany the reps in the field and aid with their leak inspections, customer outreach, oversight of violation, and other various field activities. With the perfect combination of administrative and specialized work, she can't wait to utilize the skills acquired with the team post graduation.
