Organization
Monterey Bay Aquarium
Job Description

Come support our future Explorers! Another Source’s client, Monterey Bay Aquarium, is recruiting a Youth Development Manager to join their growing team in Monterey Bay, CA. Monterey Bay Aquarium just celebrated their 40th anniversary last October - continue to be a part of their magic!

Why Join Us?

At Monterey Bay Aquarium, we believe that empowering young people with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to protect our oceans is one of the most impactful investments we can make. As a nationally recognized nonprofit institution rooted in equity, conservation, and education, we are deeply committed to supporting a new generation of diverse, STEAM-literate leaders.

In this role, you’ll work with a passionate team of educators and youth advocates to shape programming that reaches hundreds of students, many from historically underserved communities. You'll help guide their journeys through mentorship, mental wellness support, and immersive experiences like kayaking, field research, and college preparation. You’ll even be a part of the selection committee for a full-ride scholarship to one student to attend California State University - Monterey Bay. If you’ve been waiting for your chance to make an impact and be the difference for young people in your community – this is it!

Here’s What Makes the Role Especially Exciting:

  • Mission-Driven Impact: Lead programs that foster youth leadership, environmental justice, and ocean conservation.
  • Equity-Centered Culture: Work in an environment where lived experience is valued, and where racial and LGBTQ+ affinity groups help build community.
  • Manageable Caseload: Support a cohort of ~70 students over several years—enabling meaningful, holistic connections.
  • Support for Innovation: Enjoy dedicated budgets, full leadership buy-in, and the freedom to bring bold ideas to life.
  • Career Growth: Lead a team, shape strategy, and contribute to research, professional publications, and cross-departmental initiatives.

This is more than a job — it’s a mission. At Monterey Bay Aquarium, you'll have the opportunity to do work that matters alongside people who share your passion for education, conservation, and equity. Whether you’re helping a student navigate a challenging time, reflecting and evaluating field trips, or collaborating on community engagement initiatives, you’ll be making a real impact every day. https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/
