The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, San Diego Region (San Diego Water Board) has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Stormwater Management Unit. The position is in the Mission Valley community of San Diego at 2375 Northside Drive, San Diego, 92108 near light rail, freeways, and restaurants.
Duties:
Under the close supervision of the Stormwater Management Unit Supervisor (Senior Water Resource Control Engineer), the incumbent performs engineering analysis of stormwater data, reviews monitoring reports, and performs field inspections to assess compliance with stormwater permits, and prepare reports using Geographic Information System and statistical software to communicate progress stormwater pollutant reduction programs are having on improving receiving water quality throughout the region. The incumbent will use data interpretation/visualization tools to analyze and evaluate water quality data and the potential effects of pollutants and pollution on water quality and beneficial uses to guide regulatory actions to achieve environmental outcomes or enforcement to deter non-compliance. Work collaboratively with other staff and regulatory agencies. Provide written and verbal presentations to the public and Board members. Consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the Water Boards’ Strategic Plan and the San Diego Water Board’s Practical Vision, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal and external customers, to follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal and external customer input when completing work assignments.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
