Organization
Raney Planning and Management Inc.
Job Description
About the company:
- Raney is an environmental consulting company located in Sacramento. Our website can be accessed here and our LinkedIn page can be found here.
- As part of the company’s services, we document proposed development projects’ compliance with various environmental regulations, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The projects that we evaluate for CEQA and NEPA compliance are located within jurisdictions across Northern California.
- Our CEQA and NEPA documents require working with various construction civil plans and technical reports to distill the information into a readable narrative that allows lawmakers the ability to understand a project’s potential environmental ramifications. An example of a previous CEQA document completed by Raney for the City of Morgan Hill can be accessed here (select the link “Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration Public Review Draft”).
About the positions:
- The two openings are both permanent, full-time entry-level positions.
- The pay range for each position is $50,000 to $65,000, depending on qualifications. The company also provides health care coverage, a simple IRA retirement plan with 3% match, paid time off, and time off for federal holidays.
- While the position primarily involves writing about environmental topics in the context of urban planning, an educational background in such topics, while helpful, is not required.
- In fact, what we are seeking more than anything are candidates with strong writing abilities and an eagerness to learn. This is the most important quality we are seeking in candidates!
As previously stated, if you know of students who are graduating this semester, looking for employment, and who meet the above qualifications, please encourage them to submit a resume to Rod Stinson at [email protected]. Raney provides an ideal setting for expanding one’s understanding on the intersection between new construction, environmental regulations, and economic development.
