Job Description

Salary:  $25-$35/hourly (undergrad and graduate)
Job Type:  Internship - 3-4 months duration depending on school schedule

Major/area of study:  Open.  Renewable and sustainable energy fields preferred. 

Location:  Requires CA residency; ideally in the County of San Mateo or City of Los Banos.  Interns may be asked to travel to attend in-person meetings on a monthly to quarterly basis at the Peninsula Clean Energy office in Redwood City, CA.  While the role is fully remote, in-office collaboration in our Redwood City office is welcome.

Internship Overview: 
Peninsula Clean Energy is delighted to offer a summer internship opportunity to college under/graduates interested in the energy industry. The Transportation & Distributed Resources intern will be a member of PCE’s energy programs department.  

 

Sample internship projects include: 

  

1) Transportation 

PCE has a range of programs to promote EV adoption, ensure they are charged at times that support the grid, and that there is charging available, especially in apartments.  Sample tasks: 

- Assistance in implementing outreach efforts to get properties to enroll in our EV charging installation program  

- Outreach and promotion of our new smart charging program  

- Research and recommendations on innovation opportunities for EV charging  

  

2) Distributed Resource (DER) 

PCE has a local government solar and storage program and may consider expanding to other customer segments.  This project involves assessing the possible scale of the opportunity for PCE to expand its program to small and medium commercial sectors not currently well served by existing private providers. Sample tasks: 

- Receiving an overview of PCE’s solar and storage program, NEM/NBT rules, overall penetration of solar 

- Researching how solar installations and ownerships may apply to leased properties (leasing, etc.) 

- Recommend target segments based on property, business type, load shape 

- Identify and review best candidates 

- Presenting findings
