The Student Farm, a 23 acre organic educational farm and garden on the UC Davis Campus is hiring a position to coordinate the farm-based food access program called Fresh Focus. Under supervision from the Student Farm Director, the Fresh Focus Staff Coordinator will lead the Fresh Focus program and support Market Garden activities. The Fresh Focus program works to increase awareness across campus about food systems and food security and engages students directly in learning activities that address important related issues. Specifically, this position will supervise up to four Lead Student Farmers (student employees) and 9-12 interns each quarter in growing and gleaning food for donation. The position will also support Market Garden crop production activities – including leading groups of interns. The person in this position will mentor students engaged in diverse learning opportunities related to food production, distribution, access and justice. The person in this role will support Lead Student Farmers in partner stewardship and student food access. Roughly ~ 6 hours/week will be computer based or in meetings; ~6 hours/week will be Fresh Focus program coordination and student mentorship and ~8 hours/week will be work in collaboration with the Market Garden coordinator to support teaching and food access efforts.
