Student Assistant - Environmental Planning Support

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking to hire two (2) student assistants, in a learning capacity, under close supervision of a Senior Environmental Scientist or Senior Environmental Planner. In a learning capacity, the Student Assistant will assist with preparing, reviewing, and processing environmental analyses and documentation for transportation projects at different phases, including Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), Project Approval/Environmental Documents (PA&ED), Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&Es), and Construction phases. The Student Assistant will also assist in identifying environmental impacts and formulating measures to avoid, minimize, and mitigate these impacts, and may assist in construction monitoring of assigned projects. This is a short-term position with a schedule not exceeding three days per week.
