As a Senior Environmental Planner you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be a part of the SMRP multidisciplinary technical team in the planning, coordination, and completion of environmental analyses and investigations for large, technically complex cleanup projects within California
  • Research and resolve difficult and complex environmental issues in remediating sites
  • Work with Project Managers in the regional offices on a wide range of projects
  • Review and evaluate local, regional, state, and federal plans to assess potential environmental impacts of projects that may require secondary approval action by DTSC
  • Determine effective mitigation measures based upon local, regional, state, and federal requirements
  • Participate as a panel member during environmental consultant interviews, selection, and hiring processes

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

  • Knowledge of and experience with interpreting and implementing the California Environmental Quality Act
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively to solve problems with team members, consultants, other government agencies, and individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and recommend an effective course of action
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to be a self-starter, flexible, reliable, and detail oriented with high standards for work products
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects with short-term and long-term deadlines
  • Familiarity with state and local government functions
  • Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act
  • Familiarity with NAHC, CNDDB, CalEEMod
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and project management tools utilized in hybrid work environments
