Project: Determining the breeding system and
implications for recovery of the federally
endangered “Contra Costa wallflower”
This project will test the breeding system of the “Contra Costa wallflower” using a
field experiment and a genetics study of a natural, federally-protected
population at Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge.
Some of the experience and training the Fellow will receive:
•Field work and site visits to Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge and
other locations within the San Francisco Bay-Delta Field Office jurisdiction
•Lab work (e.g., DNA extractions and genotyping) and bioinformatics
•Work as a member of the ReLiC (Recovery Listing & Conservation)
team in the Bay-Delta office
•Take advantage of a wide range of professional development
opportunities (e.g., educational webinars, program meetings,
training/learning certifications)
•Direct experience working on recovery efforts for endangered
species with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service!
