The Duty station is Weaverville, California. Position studies basic principles of plant and animal ecology and functions. Oversees subordinate staff and contributes to the effective fulfillment of the Fisheries' Department Mission and the needs of the Trinity River Restoration Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides expertise in riparian ecology and management to the Trinity Restoration Program (Program), based in Weaverville, CA
- Develops riparian designs for channel rehabilitation sites
- Manages the Program's riparian re-vegetation activities, including overseeing staff, tracking plantings, and assisting with implementation reporting
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with interagency teams.
- Develops and implements studies related to the response of the riparian zone to restoration activities
- Participates in the development and evaluation of Program's annual flow schedule
- Participates in interdisciplinary, multi-agency committees aimed at evaluating, informing and improving restoration actions
- Synthesizes multi-disciplinary information
- Identifies alternatives to resolve conflicting physical and biological management needs
- Oversees the work of interagency collaborators and contractors
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position manages 4-5 subordinates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Position establishes and modifies contracts with consultants, supervises consultants.
