The Organic Career Network (OCN) Internship Program
Job Description
The Organic Career Network (OCN) Internship Program connects aspiring professionals with hands-on learning experiences in organic agriculture. Our paid internships offer opportunities to build practical skills, receive mentorship, and gain exposure to diverse careers in the organic sector—from farming and research to certification, policy, advocacy and much more.


Program Overview
- Duration: 10–12 weeks
- Format: Remote, in-person, or hybrid (varies by host)
- Compensation: All internships are paid a minimum of $15/hr
- Eligibility: 18-25 years old
- Location: Interns must reside in the United States
- Cohort Participation: All interns attend four mandatory virtual sessions
Internship Cycles
OCN hosts two internship cohorts each year. All interns begin the program at the same time, with end dates set by their host organization.
- Fall Cohort: Late September – December
- Spring Cohort: March – May

Organic Policy Intern

The intern will engage with diverse stakeholders, industry leaders, and government partners while learning about the Farm Bill, organic policy, and USDA standards. They’ll also gain hands-on organizing experience supporting a farmer fly-in lobby day.

Project Management Intern

Organic Certification Internship

Education and Curriculum Development Intern

Graduate Intern – Program Evaluation & Impact Reporting

The CCOF Foundation seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Intern to conduct a comprehensive program evaluation and produce an impact report for our three core granting programs. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of organic agriculture while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit evaluation, data analysis, and impact storytelling.

Organic Transition Resources Coordinator

This internship focuses on current and future resources needed to support diverse farmers interested in transitioning their farming operations to certified organic. In addition to organic certification guidance, resources may also include information on access to conservation practices relevant for organic production and those transitioning to organic production systems.

Values-Based Procurement & Organic Mapping Intern

- Illinois Food Justice Alliance (IFJA)
IFJA is seeking a motivated and curious graduate-level intern to assist with a statewide project to map organic farms and food businesses and deepen our coalition’s understanding of the Illinois organic sector. This project will include in-person site visits and interviews with organic producers and business owners across the state. The intern will contribute to a living database and report that will help guide future procurement partnerships.

Farmer Services Intern

Northwest Organic Seed Internship

The intern will work directly with the Pacific Northwest Program Associate to create engagement opportunities and educational content for the organic community. This opportunity is intended for individuals interested in exploring careers in organic agriculture or looking to take the next step in your career journey.

Midwest Organic Seed Internship
- Hybrid or In-person office in Ann Arbor, MI
- Organic Seed Alliance (OSA)
The intern will work directly with the Assistant Director of Regional Programs to create regionally appropriate educational content and engagement opportunities with the organic community. This opportunity is intended for individuals interested in exploring careers in organic agriculture or looking to take the next step in your career journey. The intern can also get involved in one or more of OSA’s national organic agriculture research projects, depending on their career interests.
