Manager, Reforestation Partnerships

To support this work, we are looking for a Manager, Reforestation Partnerships to join our Forest Restoration team.

 

What You’ll Do

As a part of the team, you will assist in restoring forests in priority landscapes by developing new reforestation partnerships, assessing project benefits, conducting project monitoring and site visits, and managing grants. Major responsibilities include:


 

Program Database Management (50%)

  • Manage and build out centralized database of 30+ years of restoration projects and their associated social, ecological, and climate benefits in line with internal impact reporting guidelines
  • Track and support existing and new restoration grants, including solicitation, agreements, reporting, and payments.
  • Coordinate closely with Philanthropy and Finance Departments to collect information and maintain records on philanthropic partners and restoration projects.
  • Support Philanthropy and Communications teams by providing information on projects, outcomes, stories, and opportunities.
  • Manage and update geospatial files from projects and collaborate with GIS and Data Science teams, as well as third party platforms, to maintain up-to-date maps of projects.
  • Ensure consistency in all project details across various internal and externally facing platforms.

Partner Engagement (20%)

  • Support Senior Manager of Reforestation Partnerships and Regional Directors in building and maintaining relationships with restoration partners and forest restoration community.
  • Support grant reporting, applications, and proposals for corporate, philanthropic, and government funding opportunities.

Administration (20%)

  • Maintain and improve processes for managing project data and information across various internal and external platforms including, but not limited to, Airtable, ClickUp, Unanet, Upstream, Restor, and Microsoft tools.
  • Oversee administration of grants and partnerships including tracking project progress, documenting outcomes, and preparing grant reports.
  • Manage program budgets and financial reporting in collaboration with the Finance and Operations teams.
  • Participate in staff meetings and convenings.

Project Evaluation (10%)

  • Use a robust set of models to estimate the benefits of forest restoration. Metrics include carbon sequestration, water quantity/quality, air quality and habitat.
  • Administer follow-up (monitoring) protocols to document reforestation project progress, successes and challenges over time, and validate project benefits.

  • A college degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field is desired
  • At least 3 years of experience in project/program management related to forestry, natural resources, or restoration with proven results
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively interact with others at all levels within the organization
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated reliability in both routine responsibilities and unexpected situations
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience and comfort using technical software applications and spreadsheets, including ArcGIS, Airtable, and Office365
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment

Reporting and Supervision

The Manager, Reforestation Partnerships reports to the Senior Manager, Reforestation Partnerships, and will work closely with the Resilient Forests team. This position does not have any direct reports at this time.

Compensation, Benefits & Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position. The budget rate is between $25.64 and $33.33 per hour.
  • This is a fully remote position based in the United States. Up to 10% of travel throughout the U.S. and/or to American Forests’ headquarters in Washington D.C. may be required.
