The Long-Range Planning Division within the Community Development Department is hiring a part-time General Intern to support and perform various duties in planning policy, graphic design, community engagement/organizing, healthy food initiatives/urban agriculture. The General Intern will work alongside a team, contribute to a community planning project related to topics such as elementary school education, climate change, and sustainability to activate green spaces in communities. This role will provide an opportunity to develop professional skills, support project management tasks, and collaborative partnerships. This position is funded by a grant - Californians For All Youth Service Corps Program. This grant requires participant age must be between the ages of 16 - 30 and must reside within the Sacramento city limits (look up address here: https://www.cityofsacramento.gov/mayor-council/Find-Your-District). 
 

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT

The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge or will be eager to learn about urban farming, community organizing, farm/action plan development, healthy food initiatives and collaborative partnerships. They will have willingness to take direction and show initiative in completing tasks. Prior (lived) experience or knowledge of Leataata Floyd Elementary School and surrounding community (West Broadway) (Seavey Circle), SHRA public housing (Alder Grove/Marina Vista row housing), Mercy Housing (Land Park Woods apartments) is a plus, but not required.
