Our Nursery Division and Reforestation Center offers qualified candidates an opportunity to become part of a collaborative team that manages a professional conifer seedling nursery in Northern California. Work alongside professionals at our technologically advanced and innovative Reforestation Center in the beautiful Shasta Valley of Northern California. Recognizing this being a team-oriented and hands-on position, living in the general Siskiyou County area is essential.
About the Position
- Manage day-to-day production of top-quality conifer seedlings through irrigation, fertilization, nutrition, monitoring, and a focus on overall health of the crop, including pesticide application and schedules
- Plan and implement a successful soil management program that includes tracking of soil EC and pH values
- Effectively operate and calibrate irrigation, fertilizations, and spray equipment required to achieve desired results
- Identify crop issues and collaborate with team members on effective management plan
- Work as part of a team on a variety of activities at the conifer nursery
- Maintain accurate crop records for all species and locations
- Promote a positive, team-oriented, collaborative, and problem-solving focused work environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or other related field, OR 3 years of nursery grower experience with preference for conifer experience
- California Pest Control Advisors (PCA) license with weed pest category or the ability to obtain them preferred
- Ability to correctly recognize plant diseases and manage with pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides
- Knowledge of confer species, their growth requirements, and common issues
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work both independently and as a contributing member of a team

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $70,000 to $110,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
