The UC Davis Writing Center (WC), located on the top floor of the state-of-the-art Teaching and Learning Complex (TLC), aims to expand current writing support at University of California, Davis (UCD) to all members of the university community and is looking to hire graduate writing consultants to provide writing (traditional, digital and/or multimodal) support to graduate (and undergraduate) students in all disciplines.
Graduate writing consultants will use approaches in line with disciplinary standards in tutoring writing, which will be part of the WC's mandatory and paid tutor training.
We are especially interested in tutors who will bring a diverse experience to the UCD Writing Center. It is not necessary to be an already established “good writer” or to be studying English, Writing, or other language-related degree, though we certainly welcome those students too!. Rather, we are looking for students who have a broad interest in communicating – in all media – in their fields, who are approachable and friendly, and open to learning. The WC will provide the training needed to tutor writing effectively.
Successful clearance of a UC Davis Universal Background Check is a requirement of this position.
