Division/Unit Policy and Planning Unit of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention 
Branch (CLPPB) in the Center for Healthy Communities 
CLPPB’s mission is to eliminate childhood lead poisoning by identifying 
and caring for children who are lead poisoned and preventing

Job Description Under the direction of CLPPB’s Operations Support Section manager, the 
Graduate Student Assistant will support development of a report on 
environmental lead contamination in California primarily by (1) analyzing 
problems to develop research questions; (2) conducting secondary 
research in history, commerce, industrial processes, environmental 
science, and/or economic impacts of regulation; (3) compiling numerical 
data; and (4) summarizing research findings orally and in writing. 
Compensation Hourly at $18.17 - $22.00 per hour 
Work Schedule Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM and 5 
PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. 
Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per 
workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 
hours per workweek during breaks (winter, spring, and summer). 
Conditions of 
Employment 
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. 
Employment in all positions with University Enterprises Inc. (UEI) is 
dependent upon the mutual consent of UEI and the employee. This means 
that either UEI or the employee can terminate the employment relationship 
at will, with or without cause, at any time. 
Depending on the type of position, a pre-employment background check 
consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment 
history, professional references, educational verification (i.e., degree, 
license, or official transcript), criminal background check, physical exam, 
and drug urinalysis test. Applicants will be required to pass pre-
employment checks to the satisfaction of UEI and the hiring department. 
UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI job at a time or 
work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are
 
considering leaving their current UEI student assistant position for a 
different UEI student assistant positing should inform their supervisor in 
writing and provide at least a week’s notice. 
Worksite CLPPB is located on the CDPH campus at 850 Marina Bay Parkway in 
Richmond, California, in Building P-3. However, work will be performed 
remotely using a personal computer and telephone. 
Prerequisites • Bachelor’s degree 
• Graduate student status at an accredited university or law school on 
CDPH’s affiliation list 
• Enrollment in at least four semester units or six quarter units during the 
regular term 
• Major in an academic field listed below

Duties & 
Responsibilities 
Under the direction of the Operations and Support Section Manager, the 
Graduate Student Assistant may be directed to perform any of the 
following tasks: 
• Conduct secondary research in history, commerce, industrial 
processes, environmental science, and/or economic impacts of 
regulation 
• Summarize research findings orally and in writing 
• Compile and analyze numerical data 
• Contribute to a bibliography using EndNote 
• Other related duties as assigned
