The University of California is recruiting a Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist to assist forest landowners in pre- and post-wildfire settings, and to better understand and develop management plans to protect/rebuild after forest disturbances, such as wildfire. This position will focus 50% on the Forest Stewardship Education Initiative (pre-fire) and 50% on the Post-Fire Forest Resilience Program.
The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist will use professional, adult community educational program concepts, to deliver standardized educational workshops to private, non-industrial, private forest landowners throughout California through virtual and in-person formats. This position is located in Tuolumne County (Sonora, CA) but will assist in statewide outreach efforts.
- Workshops focus on helping landowners become better forest stewards by helping them learn about forestry, forest management and post-fire forest resilience
- The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist utilizes standard practices in analyzing program content and delivery needs and determining effectiveness of current programs
- They will also assist in writing materials and helping to disseminate information through multiple platforms and help maintain and improve various websites
- The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist collaborates with, and reports to the Forest Stewardship Education Initiative Academic Coordinator and the Post-fire Forest Resilience Program Academic Coordinator on all assignments
